Ensign Dale Restaurant & Lounge Bar, York

We are travelling in Western Australia. We have a stopover at York before we are heading to the Wave Rock the next morning. Since we arrived the town late, we freshen up and to head to the town to look for something to eat.
Main Street, York
It is a very quiet town. Most of the shops are closed, only a few which is still open. This town makes me feel like as if I have travelled back in time!

Settlers House
We have chosen the one which is located within the Settlers House. We were seated outside to enjoy the quietness there.
Since we are not too hungry, we are sharing the dishes. We started off with an entree, deep fried Camembert. They have used the sourness of the cherries to make the cheese not too greasy.
The duck is not bad either. The highlight is the bed of creamy risotto.
The steak is cooked to my request. It is juicy and tender.
York Town Hall (Took it the following morning)
I didnt have any expectation in this small town to have an unexpected found!

Rengaya, North Sydney

Revisiting Rengaya, my all time favourite. They use F-1 Black Wagyu and their quality never disappointed!
Wagyu Yukke
We started off with Wagyu Yukke. This is not for someone who cant handle raw meat! I can slide the Wagyu down my throat. I like the hint of sesame oil.
Cooking...
The best part of having yakiniku is that you can cook the meat to your liking.
Premium Wagyu Short Rib
My recommendation to cook the Wagyu Short Ribs to medium to medium well. The fatty oil melted into the meat. It is just divine!
Special Ox-Tongue
A must eat dish is Ox-Tongue. This time I had the Special Ox-Tongue which is thinly sliced. I like to cook it with a crispy crust.
Wagyu Tenderloin
If you do not like your beef to be too oily, Wagyu Tenderloin is not a bad choice! This is actually the best out of the dishes we ordered.
Wagyu Beef Rib
Since we would like to try a wide variety of different part of the beef to compare. We have chosen Wagyu Beef Rib. This is like ordinary beef slice not much of an excitement.
Egg Porridge
We ordered porridge instead of rice dish this time. It is a very nice finish to wash off the oil we had from the meat.
Wa Plate: Green Tea Creme Brulee, Warabimochi with Sweet Black Syrup, Shiratama Zensai Served with Tea
I love zensai very much. I like that chewy texture. When I saw this from the dessert menu, this is a must have despite I am pretty full!
Green Tea Creme Brulee
The green tea creme brulee is full of green tea favour as well as silky smooth. What a way to finish!

Black Star Pastry, Newtown

I have tried a fair few of Black Star Pastry sweet stuff. This time I am here for savoury, lamb shank, red wine and vegetable pie. I have heard a lot about it and would like to try it myself. The filling is juicy and moist. The lamb shank filling is cooked with red wine and enhance the favour. The pastry is crisp and fluffy.
Lamb Shank, Red Wine and Vegetable Pie
To finish off with a cup of cappuccino. What's more to ask for?

Bentley Restaurant and Bar, Surry Hills

My aunt from overseas is visiting and would like to bring her to somewhere nice to eat. I remember I read an article saying there are restaurants created GFC buster lunch menu and there is one which is also available on Saturday. Bentley is the one! I have confirmed with them whether they still have the special on a Saturday when I did the booking.
Bentley Restaurant and Bar
It was a quiet Saturday afternoon not many tables are there. It will be our quiet lunch and we have many to catch up!
Sourdough with Olive Oil
One good thing about the fixed menu is that you don't have to think what to eat and you can try everything. ;)
Octopus with Almond and Garlic
The octopus is tender. It is cooked to perfection. I like how they used almond to add another element to this dish.
Pumpkin Custard with Pumpkin Seed and Goat Curd
The pumpkin custard is silky smooth. It will be a lot easier for me if I have combined the seeds and custard to eat together! :p
Poached Kingfish with Fennel Puree, White Funghi and Lemon
It is interesting to see they have used white funghi in this dish. I normally have it in my soup which I love.
Pork Belly with Wattle, Garlic Milk and Rhubarb
Again they have used another type of funghi in this dish. The pork belly is in bite size and you can hear the crackling sound in your mouth. Another interesting found is the garlic milk. It is like a flat sheet of coating.
Caramelised Pineapple with Barley Cream and Beer Sorbet
The beer sorbet has a mild beer taste to it which blended the sweetness in the pineapple. Should I have a beer afterwards?

It is a very enjoyable lunch and my aunt like my choice of this restaurant.
